COVENANTING UGANDA TO GOD
COVENANTING OUR NATION UGANDA TO GOD
FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM
1ST JANUARY, 2000, AT MANDELA NATIONAL STADIUM
· Whereas our ancestors worshipped idols and got enslaved by
witchcraft and demons;
· And whereas we, their descendants have continued in their sins,
and added on our own, even after the light of the gospel came to our nation;
· And whereas, because of all of this, our nation has experienced
God's judgment in terms of wars, diseases and plagues, poverty and famine;
· And whereas in the past few years, because of God's mercy, we
have experienced a large measure of civil quiet, prosperity and God’s
blessing;
We therefore, on this 1st day of January, in the year of our Lord, 2000,
as those interceding for our nation Uganda, and representing our districts,
tribes and families before God;
· Ask God's forgiveness for our own sins, the sins of our countrymen,
and the sins of our ancestors;
· And as we enter the 3rd. Millennium, we covenant our nation Uganda
to God, and we dedicate ourselves, our land and its people, to be vessels
to fulfill God's plans and purposes.
And, whereas in our nation. we have, enshrined in our constitution the
freedom of worship so that nobody should compel another person to subscribe
to any religion or religious expression. nevertheless, as members of the
Body of Jesus Christ in Uganda,
WE ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH GOD,
(Nehemiah chapter 9 and 10),
AND WE PLEDGE OURSELVES:
I. To work towards the unity of our nation for godly values, as we renounce
racial and tribal discrimination:
2 To practice and teach the Word of God in the Bible faithfully, and to
raise up our children and families in the fear of God. To promote good
morals in society, and to help to raise up leaders of integrity over our
nation.
3. We renounce idolatry, witchcraft and satanism in our land, with its
associated sacrifices of even human beings.
4. We also renounce earlier dedications of our nation made to demons and
beings other than The Living God.
AND ON GOD'S PART, WE ASK HIM TO LOOK WITH FAVOUR UPON
OUR NATION:
I. To cause all wars and civil unrest to come to an end. To establish
peace and stability in all parts of our country.
2. To bkss our economy and to prosper our nation. To prosper our national
programs in all fields, especially in education, health, agriculture,
industry, the roads and communications infrastructure, poverty eradication,
and the establishment of understanding among differing social groups.
3. To lift our nation to its place in His purposes among the other nations
of the world, so that we will take on our responsibility of leadership
in the Region and the Continent of Africa.
We enter this agreement with our God on this 1st. day of January, in
the year of our Lord, 2000, covenanting our nation Uganda to the purposes
of God and to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. AMEN.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
And the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.” (Psalm
33:12)
