What could it mean to 'cover an area with prayer'?
Prayer walks
Prayer walks are used to regularly cover everyone and everything in an area, people, businesses, schools, fathers, policemen, bus drivers, with blessing and proclamation of God’s truths. Just by walking the streets and squaires and praying around for who/what you see, persons and functions receive prayer that otherwise would never be prayed over. Cover them with e.g. the “Jesus prayer”: “Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on Him/her/it/us.”
>> This manifests: God’s truth over all people and all things.
24 hour coverage with prayer or worship
The churches or/and prayer groups or bible groups of an area pray in small groups around the clock according to a schedule. Just because the time is taken, depths of prayer can open up that otherwise would not would be reached. Many churches in the world and in Europe have been totally transformed by this.
>> This manifests: God’s presence is firm and enduring.
House-of-Prayer covering:
The member lists of cooperating churches of an area are joined and in every [postal] area one or more “houses of prayer” are opened. From these, prayer for felt needs is offered to all inhabitants and businesses and schools in that area. Just the fact that publically prayer is offered will stir requests for prayer by those who would otherwise never ask for it.
>> This manifests: God’s power is everywhere, always.
Prayer altar:
An altar of prayer or worship is a covenant with God to seek Him at definite times, with a definite frequency, for a divinely inspired stated purpose, until the purpose is fulfilled (just as in marriage: these two people, with all their strengths and weaknesses, as long as they live). This is a covenant, requiring perseverance, but with the power of covenant! In this, we as covenant partners may be weak and sometimes need forgiveness, but He is strong and will carry us through.
>> This manifests: The Bride prepares for and expects the Bridegroom!
Church leaders prayer
Each city/region/nation is given a church in order, however small, to bring "her" city/region/nation before the throne of God. The Church of a city or region is responsible to prepare her city/region for the "judgement of the nations." Through united prayer its leaders take responsibility for God’s protection and redemption of the city/region, and for fulfilment of her destiny. In united in prayer and holiness the church as Body is at war for her area.
>> This manifests: the Bride stands beside the Bridegroom!
Apostolic coverage:
Unity, brokenness and anointing of leaders provide (but not automatically) an apostolic mandate to bind territorial spirits ("gods of the nations" or principalities) and to call into being the destiny of their territory.
>> This manifests: the Bride reigns with the Bridegroom! (2 Tim. 1:11; 1Cor. 15:9-11, Eph. 3:10)
This is not a schedule to follow step by step, but a frame for humble expectation. The lie that this is a “post-Christian” era is conquered if the truth is discovered and lived and prayed out: en God wants to covenant your city and region and country; first through the Church, and then through the Mayor, the regional and the national Government.
